08.03.2004 - SAFE SAVINGS OF POLISH CITIZENS - 100th Meeting of the Commission for Banking Supervision

The Press Office of the National Bank of Poland would like to invite journalists to a press conference to be held after the 100th Meeting of the Commission for Banking Supervision. This will be the first press conference organised by the Commission, an institution that has co-ordinated the tasks of banking supervision and ensured safety of citizens' deposits for six years.

The conference will be held on 11th March (Thursday) at 13.00 hrs. in the Władysław Grabski Hall at 11/21 Świętokrzyska Street. The present and former Commission members will participate in the conference, including Leszek Balcerowicz, President of the National Bank of Poland, Igor Chalupec, Deputy Minister of Finance, Jacek Socha, Chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission, and Wojciech Kwaśniak, General Inspector of Banking Supervision.

The Commission is chaired by the President of the National Bank of Poland, and the Deputy Minister of Finance holds the position of Deputy Chairperson. Other members of the Commission include: a representative of the President of the Republic of Poland, the President of the Bank Guarantee Fund, the Chairperson of the Securities and Exchange Commission, a representative of the Ministry of Finance and the General Inspector of Banking Supervision. A representative of the Polish Bank Association participates in the proceedings of the Commission as adviser.
