Money supply in June 2018

In June 2018, the M3 money supply rose by PLN 5.8bn. The growth was mainly driven by an increase in deposits and other household and corporate claims on banks as well as the value of cash in circulation.
Data released by NBP on 23 July 2018 indicate that in June 2018 the M3 aggregate, reflecting the total money supply, stood at PLN 1.4bn as at the end of the month, i.e. PLN 5.8bn more than at the end of May 2018.
In June 2018, the stock of household deposits and other household claims on banks, which are included in the M3 aggregate, increased by PLN 6.4bn, i.e. 0.9%, to PLN 757.4bn. Deposits and other claims of local government institutions on banks decreased by PLN 3.2bn, i.e. 8.0%, to reach PLN 37.1bn. Cash holdings outside banks increased by PLN 3.1bn, i.e. 1.6%, to PLN 194.6. Corporate deposits and other claims of corporates on banks rose by PLN 1.4bn, i.e. 0.6%, to PLN 262.4bn.
Household debt rose by PLN 4.1bn, i.e. 0.6%, to PLN 704.7bn. The stock of banks’ claims on corporates increased by PLN 0.2bn, i.e. by 0.1%, to PLN 374.7bn, while the net debt of central government institutions in the banking sector increased by PLN 11.2bn, i.e. 4.6%, to reach PLN 254.5bn.
