Money supply in May 2019

In May 2019, the M3 money supply rose by PLN 13.5bn. The growth was mostly driven by an increase in household and corporate deposits.
According to data released by Narodowy Bank Polski on 25 June 2019, the M3 aggregate, reflecting the total supply of money, stood at PLN 1,480.6bn as at the end of May 2019, i.e. PLN 13.5bn more than at the end of April 2019.
In May 2019, the stock of household deposits and other household claims on banks which are included in the M3 aggregate increased by PLN 5.3bn, i.e. 0.6%, to PLN 838.9bn. Deposits and other claims of local government institutions on banks increased by PLN 2.9bn, or 7.8%, to PLN 39.5bn. Corporate deposits and other claims of corporates on banks increased by PLN 4.2bn, or 1.5%, to PLN 280.6bn.
Household debt rose by PLN 7.3bn, or 1.0%, to PLN 743.0bn. The stock of banks’ claims on corporates decreased by PLN 1.3bn, to PLN 388.2bn, while the net debt of central government entities fell minimally and remained almost unchanged.
