About the NBP

Issue of collector's coins

Apart from coins for general circulation, Narodowy Bank Polski issues collector's coins. They are legal tender in Poland and collectors' items at the same time.

Over 450 different collector's coins have been issued to date.

Three groups of such coins are currently issued:

  • gold coins with face values of 100 zloty and 200 zloty,
  • silver coins with face values of 10 zloty and 20 zloty,
  • 2 zloty coins, which are an alloy of copper, aluminium, zinc and tin (Nordic Gold).

Apart from collector's coins, the NBP also issues investment coins - the so-called bullion coins, which are minted in gold and contain 1/10, 1/4, 1/2 and 1 oz. of pure gold.

After Poland joins the euro zone, the role of the NBP as an issuer of collector's coins will remain unchanged. The only difference will be the fact that the coins will be denominated in euro instead of zloty. The existing series will be continued.
