Member of the Management Board of the NBP
Born in 1973.
She is a graduate of the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the University of Warsaw, where she specialised in quantitative methods.
Having completed her university education, she started her professional career as an economist at the Financial Policy and Analyses Department at the Ministry of Finance, following which she took up the post of a bank analyst at Citibank Poland SA. In 2005 she advanced to the position of the bank’s Chief Economist and Head of the Analysis Team for Central and Eastern Europe at Citibank Handlowy.
From 2007 she held various posts in central government administration. In the years 2007-2009, Ms Zajdel-Kurowska was Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Finance, responsible for public debt management, guarantees and sureties, financial policy and analyses, financial market development and international cooperation. At the same time, she was a Deputy Chairperson of the Commission for Banking Supervision, Chairperson of the Committee of the Export Credit Insurance Corporation Joint Stock Company, a member of the Board of the Bank Guarantee Fund and of the Financial Stability Committee, a member of the Board of Directors at the European Investment Bank and representative for Poland at the EU’s Economic and Financial Committee in Brussels.
From 2009 to 2012 she was Alternate Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund and since January 2013, an advisor to the President of Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego.
Ms Zajdel-Kurowska is fluent in English and has basic command of French and Russian
On 2 April 2013, the President of the Republic of Poland Bronisław Komorowski appointed Ms Katarzyna Zajdel-Kurowska to the position of a member of the Management Board of Narodowy Bank Polski.
