SORBNET - EURO system
The SORBNET-EURO system, implemented by the NBP in March 2005, is used for domestic and cross-border euro transactions that are fast, safe, and cheaper than had been the case previously. Following its start-up, the SORBNET-EURO system was successfully connected to the paneuropean TARGET settlement network. The connection was carried out through a dedicated link with the Banca d'Italia's RTGS system BIREL. Poland's connection to the TARGET network has been the most significant change in the system since it was put into operation on 4 January 1999.
