600th Anniversary of the Birth of Jan Długosz
On the 600th anniversary of the birth of Jan Długosz, one of the most distinguished Medieval historians, Narodowy Bank Polski issued a collector banknote with the face value of 20 zł. The banknote was put into circulation
on 24 August 2015.
The front of the banknote depicts the image of Jan Długosz as painted by Jan Matejko.
The back of the banknote shows the image of Wawel Cathedral and the image of Jan Długosz’s coat of arms – Wieniawa.
The banknote commemorating the 600th anniversary of the birth of Jan Długosz is the first banknote printed on paper that allows the use of laser engraving technology and the first to contain two-dimensional QR code made with the use of this technology. The use of 2D technology is a solution allowing to immediately obtain information about the subject matter of the banknote and its security features.

The banknotes, commissioned by NBP, were manufactured by the Polish Security Printing Works (PWPW S.A.). All coins and banknotes issued by NBP are legal tender in Poland.
Collector items issued by NBP are sold in the NBP regional branches and at the Internet.
