Bureau for the Integration with the Euro Area
The Press Office of the National Bank of Poland hereby announces that the Management Board of the NBP has decided to set up the Bureau for the Integration with the Euro Area, whose main task will consist in preparing a report on the full membership in the third stage of the Economic and Monetary Union (the euro area). The Bureau will start its functioning on 15 May 2007.
The report will contain an analysis of costs and benefits of Poland's membership in the euro area, as well as the assessment of the functioning of this area so far. The report will also define the optimizing conditions for the adoption of the euro in Poland.
It is also the aim of the report to formulate assessments, recommendations and postulates providing important guidance for decisions taken in the process of Poland acquiring full membership in the third stage of the EMU.
The report will be prepared on the basis of communication and consultation with academic centres, financial institutions, social partners and employers' organisations as well as public administration institutions.
In drawing up of the report use will be made of the experience and findings gathered during the preparation of the NBP experts' report published in 2004.
