Poland’s balance of payments in March 2015

NBP Data: In March 2015, the current account of Poland’s balance of payments posted positive balances in trade in goods, services and primary income accounts and deficits in secondary income accounts. The total balance of current and capital accounts was positive and amounted to EUR 3.2bn.

Preliminary data on Poland’s balance of payments in March 2015, published by NBP on 15 May 2015, show a surplus on the current account amounting to EUR 1.9bn. In the corresponding month of 2014, the balance on the current account was also positive and stood at EUR 0.3bn

In March 2015, Polish goods exports stood at EUR 15.3bn, i.e. 13.7% more than a year earlier. Imports of goods increased by 9.8% as compared with March 2014, totalling EUR 14.6bn. As a result, the balance of trade in goods was positive and amounted to EUR 0.7bn

The balance of services was positive and stood at nearly EUR 0.9bn in March 2015. Credits on services reached EUR 2.9bn and increased by 12.6% as against March 2014. Debits amounted to EUR 2.0bn, posting a 2.9% rise on the corresponding month of 2014

Primary income account balance in March 2015 was positive and stood at EUR 0.5bn. In the corresponding month of 2014 it was negative, standing at EUR -0.3bn. The size of the primary income surplus was determined by the positive balance on other primary income (mainly from inflows from the European Union under the Common Agricultural Policy), compensation of employees and the negative balance of income on investments
