Money supply in April 2020

In April 2020, the M3 money supply increased by PLN 44.7bn. The increase was mostly driven by a rise in deposits and other claims on other financial institutions.
According to data released by Narodowy Bank Polski on 25 May 2020, the M3 aggregate, reflecting the total supply of money, amounted to PLN 1,673.1bn at the end of April 2020, i.e. PLN 44.7bn more than at the end of March 2020.
In April 2020, the stock of household deposits and other claims on banks which are included in the M3 aggregate increased by PLN 9.9bn, i.e. 1.1%, and amounted to PLN 916.6bn. Deposits and other claims on other financial institutions rose by PLN 16.1bn, i.e. 26.7%, to PLN 76.6bn. The value of corporate deposits and other claims of corporates increased by PLN 4.3bn, i.e. 1.3%, to PLN 326.0bn, and in the local government sector it decreased by PLN 0.5bn, i.e. 1.1%, to PLN 41.7bn.
Household debt declined by PLN 1.7bn, i.e. 0.2%, to PLN 782.6bn. The stock of banks’ claims on enterprises decreased by PLN 2.7bn, i.e. 0.7%, to PLN 401.8bn, and the net debt of central government entities rose by PLN 54.2bn, i.e. 17.3%, to PLN 368.1bn.
